Welcome to J. H. Godwin
We would like to welcome you to our school website and hope that you enjoy looking at the children's work and the fun learning opportunities, as we aim to 'Inspire and Achieve' in all that we do. We strongly believe that our school provides a caring, positive, safe and stimulating environment where the welfare and safeguarding of our children and families is at the heart of all that we do.
About our School
J H Godwin is a well established school in the heart of Blacon, opposite Blacon High School. We currently have around 200 children on roll from Reception to Year 6 and aim to provide an exciting, broad and balanced curriculum that enables the children to be challenged in a nurturing environment. We are passionate about creating 'hands-on' learning experiences that form the heart of our curriculum planning and inspire real learning experiences for all our pupils to achieve the best that they can in all that they do.
As well as the National Curriculum 2014, we also place great importance on teaching our pupils about job and career pathways to inspire ambitions for the future and place an emphasis on understanding money in the modern world. Creating children who can flourish and succeed in today's society is the starting point for all learning. This includes the teaching of British Values such as respect, tolerance, freedom, justice, equality, democracy and the ability to place value and worth on all groups in society.
We have breakfast club provision from 7.45am each day that takes place in the private nursery attached to our school - 'Stepping Stones' and we offer a wide variety of extra curricular clubs and activities from 3-4pm everyday. These activities change each term based on the views and needs of the pupils in school and are updated on the 'After School Clubs' tab to the right of this message.
We welcome you to come and visit J H Godwin to see our fantastic outdoor learning environment, meet our talented, exciting and committed staff and most importantly view our pupils as they celebrate their love for learning, demonstrate their care and respect for themselves and others, and show their honesty and commitment to becoming members of a future society who inspire and achieve.
We welcome your views about our school and ask that you follow the link below to Parent View where you can complete an Ofsted questionnaire.
