Phonics

Phonics is a vital aspect of Team 1 we will learn and revisit new sounds daily to increase our phonic knowledge and as a result our reading and writing. As a school, we use Read Write Inc resources and structure, however this is also adapted to the needs of each individual learner. 

In June all children will undertake a statutory phonics screening test which will require all children to use their phonics knowledge to read 40 words; both real and 'alien'. Each week children will be given sounds to practise. they will also complete regular pass papers to ensure that progress is being made and children are being supported in areas of difficulty.
