Family Support and Children's Wellbeing
My name is Mrs Wignall and I am the Family Support and Children's Wellbeing Co-ordinator and Deputy Safeguarding Lead at our school.
We understand that many children and families experience difficulties at times that can make a happy home and school life a struggle. If you have worries about your child or family, I am here to listen and offer support. I work in a non-judgemental way and I understand that families are faced with many difficult challenges. I have many years of experience, working with children, young people and their parents and carers. We work with lots of different agencies that can also offer support including Housing, Debt Agencies, local police, Community Safety Wardens, Health, Children's Centres, Education Welfare, Social Care, NSPCC, local nurseries and schools. Here are some of the examples of the things I can suport you with
- Good Attendance and getting to school on time
- Parenting skills - including rules and boundaries, routines and play!
- Housing and money worries
- Family relationship problems
- Bereavement and loss
- Health and Wellbeing issues
- Supporting you and your child with thier behaviour and attitude towards others
- Attending multi agency meetings to support you and your famiy
- Foodbank vouchers
If you would like to speak to me I am on the playground each morning or you can ring or call into school to make an appointment.
Look out for the parent learning courses that run throughout the year. The next course is 'Help your child with Maths' starts on 6th November 2020 it will run for 4 weeks via Zoom, please contact school if you wish to join us.
I work closely with Miss Mckenzie our Learning Mentor. We are part of breakfast club where we run fun activities for the children before school starts.
We liaise with Mrs Wetton, teachers and support staff to identify children who may benefit from additional support outside the classroom developing their emotional skills. For example, managing feelings of anxiety, anger or low self-esteem.
Miss Mckenzie and I work with the children individually and in small groups giving them the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings.
